About DeAndrea Powell

Hi, I’m DeAndrea. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist – Associate.

I’m excited to be a part of your journey

I am deeply passionate about helping individuals, families, and couples build the life they aspire to lead. My work focuses on fostering solid support systems, maintaining meaningful relationships, regulating nervous system/emotions, and understanding personal needs. I believe self-discovery begins with exploring where we come from. We are mosaics, shaped by the people and experiences we encounter, and these influences can leave lasting effects.

Together, we will explore these patterns within a relational and systemic context to help you move forward.

My therapeutic framework

In our collaborative and client-focused work, I draw from a combination of therapeutic models – Narrative,Structural, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) – tailored to your specific goals. I work primarily with those who feel anchored in the in-between. My goal is to offer support and guidance as we work together on your path toward growth and healing.

Currently, I am under the supervision of Misti Sparks, PhD, LMFT-S, LPC while I complete my post-graduate clinical hours. This means I have met all educational and professional qualifications to provide psychotherapy services, and I am working under the supervision of an experienced clinician as I complete my post-graduate clinical hours. This mentorship provides me with invaluable insights and guidance, further enhancing my ability to support my clients effectively.

A little more about me

I earned my master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas Wesleyan University. I’ve had the privilege of learning from some incredible therapists and even completed advanced training in therapy modalities in London. I’m a Prepare/Enrich Certified Facilitator (premarital & marriage assessment), with plans to pursue certifications in sex therapy and EMDR therapy. I have had the opportunity to work alongside Lyndsey Murray as an intern for my practicum. During my internship, I had the privilege of gaining valuable insights into the field of sex therapy. I have worked with couples and individuals exploring polyamory, those navigating intimacy/sexual challenges, and individuals in the LGBTQIA+ community. This experience has expanded my knowledge of the tools and techniques essential for effectively supporting clients in this specialized form of therapy.

As someone who sees a therapist myself, I understand firsthand the strength it takes to start this journey – and the growth that can come from it. I believe that even the smallest seed of belief in yourself can grow into something extraordinary. I’d love to stand by your side to tackle life’s challenges one step at a time to create a brighter future that you deserve! Reach out to me today – I’m excited to connect and start working together!
