Hi, I’m Jocelyn. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor – Associate.
Welcome to your path to healing
Hi there! I’m glad you’re here. In my practice as a counselor, I believe in the power of empathy, understanding, and support to transform lives. My journey started with a deep passion for mental health and psychology, which grew into a strong interest in sexual health during graduate school. This was further enriched by a year and a half of hands-on experience at a crisis center, where I worked closely with clients who had been through sexual and domestic violence. Many of them were diagnosed with PTSD, and this experience deepened my commitment to helping those in need.
My own experiences with various forms of abuse, including sexual assault, mental and physical abuse, and coercive control, have shaped my empathetic approach to counseling. These tough times sparked my desire to support others going through similar traumas, making sure they never feel alone. Plus, my personal understanding of the LGBTQ+ community and its unique challenges has reinforced my belief in the transformative power of counseling.
My journey to becoming a counselor
During my academic journey, I developed a particular interest in women’s sexual health and its impact on mental well-being. Unfortunately, the topic of sex is often overlooked in graduate programs, which pushed me to pursue further specialization. I’m currently working towards becoming a certified sex therapist, driven by the belief that open discussions about sexuality can significantly enhance our daily lives.
As a dedicated and inclusive counselor, I’m committed to addressing a wide range of issues, from sexual performance concerns and difficulties in connecting with partners to polyamory and lifestyle matters. My goal is to create a safe and welcoming space for people of all backgrounds, faiths, and beliefs. I got my master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Colorado Christian University, a choice that reflects my dedication to professional excellence rather than any religious affiliation. I firmly believe that the counseling room is a place for personal growth, free from religious conversion or persuasion.
Supportive counseling for sexual and mental health
Currently, I am under the supervision of Lyndsey Murray, M.S., LPC-S, CST, as I complete my post-graduate clinical hours. What this means is that I meet all qualifications and education to provide psychotherapy services to clients, while under the supervision of an experienced clinician to complete my post-graduate direct clinical hours. This mentorship is providing me with invaluable insights and guidance, further enhancing my ability to support my clients effectively.
My mission is to help you embrace your true self, strengthen your personal beliefs, and start on a path to healing and fulfillment. Whether you’re facing challenges in your sexual health, mental well-being, or navigating the complexities of relationships, I’m here to support you every step of the way.
Welcome to a journey of compassion, understanding, and transformative change. I can’t wait to work with you!
