Sex Positivity: Unfiltered

Therapist and podcast host team up to launch no-holds-barred show on sex positivity

Two friends have launched a new no-holds-barred podcast about sex positivity, the patriarchy and feminism.

Certified sex therapist Lyndsey Murray runs Relationship Matters Therapy, a Texas-based practice and is often quoted by media all over the world sharing her expertise. But now Lyndsey has teamed up with her friend Denise Stratton to launch a new podcast called Sex Positivity, Unfiltered.

The aim of the podcast is to talk candidly about sex, tackling topics which are normally considered taboo. The first episode will be available on Monday (July 31, 2023) on multiple streaming platforms, including Apple, Google and Spotify. New episodes will be available the last Monday of each month.

Podcast co-host Lyndsey says: “Sex positivity isn’t just about sex, we’ll be covering lots of different subjects, including consent, ethics, queer rights, feminism and the patriarchy. Each episode will cover a different topic and I’m really excited about it.”

“I’ll be sharing my expertise as a sex therapist and Denise will be talking from her perspective as a lesbian with real world experience. We each go away and do our own research on our chosen topic and then share it with each other on the podcast, so it is a genuine conversation where we are learning from each other.”

Denise is already the co-host of a successful podcast called Born This Gay, which celebrates LGBTQ+ experiences and culture. The first show will cover the history of the sex positivity movement and new episodes will be released monthly on the final Monday of each month.

The pair hope that by combining mental health expertise with their own experiences, they can challenge societal norms and empower people to learn more about what it means to be a sexual person in the world today.

Lyndsey says: “The more you learn, the more empowered you are. We want to break some of the stigmas that surround sex and sexuality and get people thinking about things in a new way.

“A lot of people still feel very uncomfortable talking about sex with others so we hope that our podcast will help normalise talking about these topics so people feel they can share more openly. We really want to celebrate autonomy, individuality and authenticity.”
